Cardiac ablation summit Amsterdam 2026
Cardiac Ablation Summit 2026 – Innovation in Practice.
I recently attended the Cardiac Ablation Summit 2026 in Amsterdam, hosted by Medtronic. The meeting brought together electrophysiologists from across Europe to explore advances in catheter ablation, with a particular focus on pulsed field ablation (PFA), electroanatomical mapping and emerging technologies.
The programme offered an excellent combination of expert presentations, clinical case discussions and practical demonstrations, covering technologies including PulseSelect, Affera and Sphere-9.
My personal highlight was the Mapping Masterclass, presented by Jakub David, which explored unipolar electrogram interpretation and signal confidence using the Affera mapping system. This was a particularly engaging session, highlighting the importance of understanding electrogram characteristics and using high-quality mapping data to guide ablation strategies. It reinforced how sophisticated mapping and careful signal interpretation remain fundamental to successful electrophysiology procedures, even as ablation technologies evolve.
Other interesting sessions explored the clinical experience with the Affera Mapping and Ablation System, focal ablation using Sphere-9, and its potential applications in ventricular tachycardia ablation.
A recurring theme throughout the meeting was the importance of selecting the right technology and ablation strategy for the individual patient, rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach.
It was also an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues and reflect on how these developments might influence our own electrophysiology practice.
An informative and enjoyable meeting, with plenty of practical insights to take back to the EP laboratory.
